Jim Savitt - "Hear & Now" Review
NightCast Records
Jim Savitt is a new artist to most of us but listening
to his new CD "Second Light", he is an artist who will soon be
on the Radio & Records Smooth Jazz chart on a regular basis.
When I first started listening to the CD I immediately wanted to compare
his guitar playing to that of Paul Brown. Upon listening further,
I heard a style that hits the bullseye for the current Smooth Jazz feel.
It is not surprising the talent Jim has because he is a graduate from
the famous Berklee School of Music. The opening track "One
World" has a "genre defining world music collaboration"
with Alain Nkossi Konda. Also featured on the CD are performances
by saxophonists Randy Villars and Lanny Ward. Ted Cruz
also joins in on keyboards. Jim plays a nylon string or steel strung
acoustic guitar in the style of Marc Antoine and you can hear an
example in the song "If I Tell You".
Jim is an independent artist not following the standards of the Smooth
Jazz genre. Instead, he is a leader, raising the bar for other Indie
artists to follow.
The CD has a beautiful mix of styles. There are smooth grooves, sensuous
melodies, even some Flamenco. It has all of what a listener needs when
it comes to Smooth Jazz enjoyment.
Jim Savitt has put together a fantastic CD which is a must have for all
Smooth Jazz enthusiasts. Head over to his website to order your copy
www.jimsavitt.com or www.nightcastrecords.com. Be sure to give
consideration to Jim's other fine CD's.
